What a vascular surgeon does

A vascular surgeon, or angiosurgeon, deals with arteries and veins — all of them except the heart’s own vessels. People come with varicose and spider veins, heavy legs that swell by evening, calf pain when walking that eases once they stop, foot wounds that are slow to heal, or narrowed carotid arteries found on ultrasound. If both legs swell and no veins show, start with a general practitioner, as the cause may be the heart or kidneys; heart and valve operations are for a cardiac surgeon. Bring earlier vascular ultrasound reports and, for a morning visit, evening photos of your legs.

Frequently asked questions

Phlebologist or vascular surgeon: what is the difference?

A phlebologist deals only with veins — varicose veins, vein thrombosis and chronic venous insufficiency — while a vascular surgeon works with both veins and arteries. Phlebologists in the Medaro directory are also listed among vascular surgeons, so you can choose a varicose vein doctor right in this list.

Where can I get a leg vein ultrasound?

Ultrasound of the leg veins and arteries (duplex scanning) is done by ultrasound specialists, and in some clinics by the vascular surgeon during the consultation. If you have a referral, check what it says — veins or arteries, and which segment: that decides both the scan itself and its line in the clinic’s price list.

How much does a vascular surgeon consultation cost?

34 of the 98 vascular surgeons have a consultation price from the clinic’s price list on their page, with the date the list was taken; for the rest, ask the clinic. The cost of varicose vein surgery depends on the method and extent of the procedure — ask the clinic after the exam.

Which Yerevan districts have the most vascular surgeons?

Vascular surgeons in this list are concentrated in Kanaker-Zeytun (28), Kentron (23), and Ajapnyak (12). Check-ups and ultrasounds with a vascular surgeon often mean more than one visit, so a clinic near home is handy — pick your area in the “District” filter.

About this list

This list covers doctors whom Yerevan clinics name on their own websites: currently 98 doctors from 29 clinics. The list is incomplete and keeps growing; each card leads to a page with the practice location and the clinic’s phone number. There are no such doctors from other Armenian cities in the directory yet.

The list includes 13 women and 84 men — you can choose with the “Gender” filter.

Cards where the clinic lists experience, education or a consultation price come first, then the rest. Within each group, cards with a photo come first. This is not a ranking: places in the list are not for sale. How we collect and check information

Doctors of related specialties are in the list above.

Medaro is a directory: we do not make diagnoses or recommend a particular doctor. Information about doctors comes from clinic websites; before your visit, check the appointment and the cost with the clinic.
