Where these cardiac surgeons see patients

What a cardiac surgeon does

A cardiac surgeon operates on the heart and the large vessels next to it: valve operations, coronary bypass surgery and repair of congenital heart defects in children and adults. Patients usually come for a consultation once a cardiologist has raised surgery based on test results, and afterwards for planned follow-up. Until surgery has been discussed, chest pain, blood pressure and an irregular heartbeat start with a cardiologist, and leg veins and arteries with a vascular surgeon. Bring discharge summaries, the heart ultrasound report and your coronary angiogram disc, if any.

Frequently asked questions

Can I book a cardiac surgeon myself, without seeing a cardiologist?

You can usually book a paid consultation directly, but without test results a cardiac surgeon can say little: decisions about surgery rest on an ECG, a heart ultrasound and, for coronary artery disease, a coronary angiogram. That is why most patients come with a cardiologist’s report. If you have no tests yet, start with a cardiologist, and call 103 for pressing chest pain lasting more than 5–10 minutes.

What is the difference between a cardiac surgeon and a vascular surgeon?

A cardiac surgeon works on the heart — valves, coronary arteries, congenital defects — and on the aorta right next to it. A vascular surgeon deals with arteries and veins elsewhere in the body: the legs, neck and abdomen, including varicose veins and narrowed carotid arteries. If your leg veins bother you or your legs hurt when you walk, look through the list of vascular surgeons.

At which Yerevan clinics do cardiac surgeons work?

Cardiac surgeons in this list work at 5 clinics; most of them are here: Nork-Marash Medical Center (14), "Best Life" Armenian-Japanese Medical Center (4), and Astghik Medical Center (2). Consultations are booked through the clinic’s phone, shown on its page and in the “Where these cardiac surgeons see patients” list above.

In which Yerevan districts do cardiac surgeons see patients?

Most cardiac surgeons in this list are in Nork-Marash (14), Kanaker-Zeytun (5), and Malatia-Sebastia (2); the number in brackets is how many work in that district. Other districts can be picked in the “District” filter, and all clinics are in the “Where these cardiac surgeons see patients” list above.

About this list

This list covers doctors whom Yerevan clinics name on their own websites: currently 21 doctors from 5 clinics. The list is incomplete and keeps growing; each card leads to a page with the practice location and the clinic’s phone number. There are no such doctors from other Armenian cities in the directory yet.

Cards where the clinic lists experience, education or a consultation price come first, then the rest. Within each group, cards with a photo come first. This is not a ranking: places in the list are not for sale. How we collect and check information

Doctors of related specialties are in the list above. Ask the clinic about the cost of a consultation: some clinics have their price list on their Medaro page.

Medaro is a directory: we do not make diagnoses or recommend a particular doctor. Information about doctors comes from clinic websites; before your visit, check the appointment and the cost with the clinic.
