What a podologist does
A podologist looks after feet and toenails: ingrown and thickened nails, calluses, corns and cracked heels. This is not a salon foot treatment — a podologist works with feet that already cause trouble, including in people with diabetes, for whom it is especially important not to damage the skin. Nail fungus is a matter for a dermatologist, flat feet and foot pain for an orthopedist, and an inflamed toe with pus for a surgeon. Come without nail polish and bring any doctors’ reports if you are already under their care.
Frequently asked questions
Is a podologist a doctor?
Not necessarily. The job can be done by a physician, such as a dermatologist, or by a foot-care specialist without a medical degree. Ask the clinic what training the specialist has, or check their card if the clinic has listed it.
Nail fungus — podologist or dermatologist?
Confirming fungus and prescribing treatment is a doctor’s job — for that, see a dermatologist. A podologist can work on the affected nails and the skin of the feet; whether that is fine during treatment is for the dermatologist to decide.
Ingrown toenail — podologist or surgeon?
If the toe is red, swollen, very painful or there is pus under the nail, see a surgeon: inflammation and removing part of the nail are a doctor’s job. Without inflammation you can start with a podologist — ask the clinic in advance whether the specialist works with ingrown nails. If you have diabetes, show any wound or ingrown nail on your foot to a doctor first.
Which Yerevan clinics have podologists?
The podologists in this list see patients at 2 clinics: Helios (15) and National Center Of Dermatology (1). Each podologist’s card has the clinic’s phone number.
How much does a podologist appointment cost?
12 of the 16 podologists in this list have an appointment price from the clinic’s price list on their page, dated when the list was taken. Nail work and other procedures may be priced separately — ask the clinic.
About this list
This list covers specialists whom Yerevan clinics name on their own websites: currently 16 specialists from 2 clinics. The list is incomplete and keeps growing; each card leads to a page with the practice location and the clinic’s phone number. There are no such specialists from other Armenian cities in the directory yet.
Cards where the clinic lists experience, education or a consultation price come first, then the rest. Within each group, cards with a photo come first. This is not a ranking: places in the list are not for sale. How we collect and check information
Doctors of related specialties are in the list above.
Medaro is a directory: we do not make diagnoses or recommend a particular doctor. Information about doctors comes from clinic websites; before your visit, check the appointment and the cost with the clinic.
