What a pulmonologist does
A pulmonologist deals with conditions of the airways and lungs: people come with a cough that lasts more than a month, breathlessness during everyday activity, wheezing, frequent bronchitis, asthma, or after pneumonia. A cough during a cold usually starts with a GP, a child’s cough with a pediatrician, and snoring or a blocked nose with an ENT doctor. Bring X-ray or fluorography images and reports, earlier spirometry results and a list of your medicines and inhalers, and tell the doctor whether you smoke.
Frequently asked questions
Which cough is a reason to see a pulmonologist rather than a GP?
A cough with a cold or bronchitis is first shown to a GP. People see a pulmonologist when a cough lasts more than a month, especially in a smoker, when bronchitis comes back several times a year, or when breathlessness appears during everyday activity. Blood in the phlegm, a fever for more than 3–4 days or marked breathlessness mean you should not wait for a routine visit, and if you are choking, call 103.
Where can I have my breathing tested (spirometry)?
Spirometry shows how well the lungs work, and it is usually ordered by a pulmonologist or a GP. Whether a clinic offers it and at what price shows in the clinic’s price list, if its Medaro page has one: start with the clinics under “Where these pulmonologists see patients” above. If there is no price list, ask the front desk — the staff there can also explain how to prepare.
Which clinics in Yerevan have pulmonologists?
The pulmonologists on this list see patients at 12 clinics, most of them at "Armenia" Republican Medical Center (5), Mikayelyan Institute of Surgery (4), and "Arabkir" Joint Medical Center — Institute of Child and Adolescent Health (2). Check consultation days and hours by phoning the clinic listed on the doctor’s card.
How much does a pulmonologist consultation cost?
4 of the 18 pulmonologists in this list have a consultation price from the clinic’s price list on their page, with the date the list was taken. For the others, ask the front desk what a consultation and spirometry cost.
About this list
This list covers doctors whom Yerevan clinics name on their own websites: currently 18 doctors from 12 clinics. The list is incomplete and keeps growing; each card leads to a page with the practice location and the clinic’s phone number. There are no such doctors from other Armenian cities in the directory yet.
The districts with the most doctors on this list are Ajapnyak (7), Kanaker-Zeytun (5), and Kentron (3).
Cards where the clinic lists experience, education or a consultation price come first, then the rest. Within each group, cards with a photo come first. This is not a ranking: places in the list are not for sale. How we collect and check information
Doctors of related specialties are in the list above.
Medaro is a directory: we do not make diagnoses or recommend a particular doctor. Information about doctors comes from clinic websites; before your visit, check the appointment and the cost with the clinic.
