What an obstetrician-gynecologist does
An obstetrician-gynecologist follows a woman through pregnancy: registers it, orders the routine tests and scans for each stage, watches over mother and baby, delivers the baby and checks on the mother afterwards. People book one after a positive test, when planning a pregnancy and in the first weeks after giving birth. If conception is slow, a fertility specialist may help later on; a newborn’s health is for a neonatologist or a pediatrician. If another doctor has followed the pregnancy so far, bring their notes and your results, and write down which vitamins and medicines you take.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I get pregnancy care?
Pregnancy care is provided by an obstetrician-gynecologist — at a private clinic at your own cost or under state health insurance. According to the Ministry of Health, an insured woman can see an obstetrician-gynecologist during pregnancy and get the services included in required pregnancy monitoring without a family doctor’s referral. Whether you are covered and where to go with your insurance: state health insurance.
Are an obstetrician and an obstetrician-gynecologist different doctors?
As a rule, they are the same doctor: clinics almost always give the job title as “obstetrician-gynecologist”. Such a doctor manages pregnancy and childbirth and, the rest of the time, sees patients as a general gynecologist. So this list sits almost entirely within the gynecologists list — check there for anything not related to pregnancy.
Can my pregnancy be followed by a female doctor?
Yes. Among the 250 obstetricians in this list, 181 are women and 61 are men. The Gender filter narrows the list down; whether your chosen doctor follows a pregnancy all the way to delivery, ask the clinic.
How much does a visit to an obstetrician cost in Yerevan?
46 of the 250 obstetricians in this list have a consultation price from the clinic’s price list on their pages, dated when the list was taken. Ask the clinic separately what full pregnancy care costs.
About this list
This list covers doctors whom Yerevan clinics name on their own websites: currently 250 doctors from 34 clinics. The list is incomplete and keeps growing; each card leads to a page with the practice location and the clinic’s phone number. There are no such doctors from other Armenian cities in the directory yet.
The districts with the most doctors on this list are Kentron (70), Erebuni (51), and Nor Nork (39).
Cards where the clinic lists experience, education or a consultation price come first, then the rest. Within each group, cards with a photo come first. This is not a ranking: places in the list are not for sale. How we collect and check information
Doctors of related specialties are in the list above.
Medaro is a directory: we do not make diagnoses or recommend a particular doctor. Information about doctors comes from clinic websites, and for some doctors from a saved copy of the site or a letter from the clinic; before your visit, check the appointment and the cost with the clinic.
